International Travel Top Ten
I just returned from another international business trip and survived all of the airport delays, taxi delays, etc. Every time I travel, these are the top ten items I make sure I have when traveling over seas:
- Two international power adapters (for the region I am visiting) - One for my computer and one for backup
- Passport
- Travelers checks
- Two alarms - that jet lag gets me every time, and fault tolerance is ingrained into my head
- Protein bars - who knows where or when you will eat next
- Celebrity Magazines - After about 5 hours on a flight, reading technical material becomes difficult
- A power strip - conference rooms don’t seem to ever have enough outlets - also using the one power adapter will feed power for my colleagues and I
- Four port hub
- One small ethernet cable and one long ethernet cable - getting onto wireless networks is still far too difficult in most offices
- Tom tom maps for my windows mobile cell phone and bluetooth GPS - This comes in very handy because taxi drivers really have trouble with directions in most places I visit.
